Classic slot, sometimes also called fruit machines, are the first generation of online slot machines. These are the slots that are associated with the slot machines you find at your local pub. Typically, they have three reels. They often use the standard symbols of electro-mechanical fruit machines: cherries, oranges, bells, bars, sevens, and more.
In the early days, slots machines didn't pay out money. They earned free sticks of bubble gum. Get 3 cherries and guess what: you just won yourself some cherry gum. But then, with time, slot manufacturers caught on that people weren't so happy with just winningchewing gum, and slot machines started paying out real money. From then on, slots have grown in popularity and now are staple both at land casinos and online.

Compared to the video slots you find online, classic slots are relatively simple. They generally lack wilds and bonus games. And usually, they often have just one payline. Still, these games have a loyal following. The attraction is not just nostalgia. They are straightforward and easy to play. And the payouts may be high. Some have payout percentages exceeding 97% Return to Player (RTP). And when it comes to playing online slots, some developers have spiced up the old school one armed bandit with extra features.
Classic Slots Online
While they might have a reputation as rather boring looking, there are actually some pretty cool retro classics online. Game designers and developers have re-invented the game in the spirit of the early online games of the 1990s and 2000s. It goes beyond the latest software innovations and fun animated designs to include extra features to boost your payout. If you want to check out a classic slot online, then take a look at Sizzling Scorpions,, a 3 reel 1 payline game. While it looks dated, this online classic slot does have a built-in bonus game and its jackpot can be worth up to 5,000 coins. Another good classic slot is Cherry Red. Again, this is a game from Microgaming, with 3 reels and 1 payline. In Cherry Red, the cherry symbol is also a multiplier that can double or even quadruple your winnings.
Classic Slots Progressive Jackpots
Most of the time, players don't think classic slots have progressive jackpots. To a certain degree it's true. Progressive jackpots aren't so classic. But at the same, there are progressive jackpots that have a classic slot look and feel that works great if you enjoy simplicity, but are looking to win serious money. Take a look at Tunzamunni – another game from Microgaming. Tunzamunni is a 3 reel 1 payline slot – it doesn't get anymore classic than that. But it's also attached to a progressive jackpot that pays out at an average of almost €60,000.
If you want to check out these games for yourself, Sizzling Scorpions, Cherry Red and Tunzamunni are all available at top Microgaming casinos like Royal Vegas. On signing up an account with Royal Vegas, players can claim a Welcome package worth up to €1,200. The exact amount you receive will depend on how much you deposit, but you will end up with some free chips on the house to start playing slots online.
